Understanding how biological neurons work has been a major goal in neuroscience. We approach this issue from a communication engineering perspective. The goal is to construct models which are simple yet biologically realistic and provide insights into the neuron codes. Our study involves ideas from probability theory, communication theory, information theory, and statistical signal processing.
We are particularly interested in developing techniques for enhancing Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO)-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems.
