Dr. Sumet Tantivejkul, the President of Thammasat University Council, presented an Outstanding Research Award to Asst. Prof. Dr. Thawatchai Onjun and a Very Good Research Award to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Stanislav Makhanov at the “Thammasat University Researchers’ Day” celebrated on August 31, 2007 at Rama Garden Hotel, Bangkok.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Thawatchai Onjun, from the Department of Common and Graduate Studies of SIIT, received the Outstanding Research Award from Thammasat University for his research on “Simulations of H-mode Plasma in Tokamak Using Integrated Predictive Modeling Codes”. The work was under collaboration efforts with nuclear fusion research groups at Lehigh University in USA and at the Joint European Torus (JET) in UK. It was partially funded by the Commission on Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Thailand, and the Thailand Research Fund (TRF). Dr. Thawatchai’s research outputs have been published in several international journals with high impact factors, namely Physics of Plasmas, Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion, Nuclear Fusion, and Laser and Particle Beams.
