| Two software projects by SIIT students won prizes at the 11th National Software Contest (NSC2009) which was organized by the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) during February 6-8, 2009, at the Royal Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon Department Store, Bangkok.
Mr. Wittawat Jitkrittum, a fourth-year student of the Computer Science program, received the second prize of the science and technology software category. The project is titled “Question Answering System for Thai Wikipedia”. It was developed as his senior project supervised by Associate Professor Dr. Thanaruk Theeramunkong of the School of Information, Computer and Communication Technology. Mr. Preechakorn Torruangwatthana and Ms. Thitima Nuchpithak, fourth-year students of the Computer Science program, received the second prize, of the software for the disabled category. They also received the first special prize from the Fund for Developing Thai Computer Technology for the Blind, Ratchasuda Foundation. Their project is titled “Thai Speech Synthesis Application on Smart Phone for the People with Visual Disabilities”. This project was a senior project supervised by Dr. Cholwich Nattee of the School of Information, Computer and Communication Technology.
