Assoc. Prof. Dr. Winyu Rattanapitikon, from the School of Civil Engineering and Technology of SIIT, received the Outstanding Teacher in Science & Technology Award for the Year 2006 from Thammasat University. Dr. Winyu has also received two Best Teaching Awards from the Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT) — the 1998 and 2005 SIIT Best Teaching Awards.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Winyu joined SIIT in 1997. He served as Assistant Director for Academic Affairs during 2001-2002, Institute Secretary in 2003, and Head of the Department of Common and Graduate Studies in 2004. At present, Dr. Winyu is the Executive Assistant Director for Rangsit Campus of SIIT and a faculty member of the School of Civil Engineering and Technology. He received his B.Eng. in Agricultural Engineering from Khon Kaen University, M.Eng. in Water Resources Development from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, and D.Eng. in Coastal Engineering from Yokohama National University, Japan. Dr. Winyu’s research areas include mathematical modeling, coastal engineering, hydraulics of open channels, and hydrology.
