| The Scientific Committee of BioInfoBank Institute has selected an SIIT M.Sc. Thesis entitled “Cr(VI) Removal from Electroplating Wastewater Using Chemically Modified Low-cost Adsorbents and Activated Carbon” by Mr. Tonni A. Kurniawan, as the Best Thesis submitted to the BioInfoBank Library (Poland) in 2008. The competition, organized by the BioInfoBank Library, aims at promoting the sharing of scientific reports worldwide for capacity building. The thesis, which addressed strategies to remove heavy metals from the aquatic environment in Thailand using an adsorption process, was conducted under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sandhya Babel, School of Bio-Chemical Engineering and Technology, Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT). Mr. Kurniawan’s master’s degree study at SIIT was funded by the Asian Development Bank - Japan Scholarships Programme (ADB-JSP). After receiving his master’s degree from SIIT in 2003, Mr. Kurniawan pursued his Ph.D. study at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) in 2004 with a University’s Postgraduate Scholarship for Ph.D. Study. He completed his Ph.D. study in 2008 and is now working as a researcher in Finland. |
